IMMORTAL HEARTS A story of love so powerful it transcends time.
John Bolton is forced to detour off the highway into the small rural Australian town of Macklin. From the moment he steps from his car the familiarity begins. He cannot explain why he knows who owns the old grocery store. Nor can he understand the emotions that run through him when he sees a photo of a cottage belonging to the recently deceased Rebbecca Bolton, hanging in a realtor’s window. Eighty-four year old Mary White, once Rebbecca’s closest friend, faints when she first sets eyes on John, and later they unravel the past to discover his link with Rebbecca. John eventually realises he is in deeply in love with a memory – a woman from the past. As the new owner of Rebbecca’s cottage he spends a night in her old double bed, and with exceptional clarity experiences a previous married life with her. He wakes to find himself back in present time the following morning, and amid the anguish and despair filling his heart and mind, he attempts to find a way back into the past, and to his beloved Rebbecca. Mary Kelford and her daughter Louise had never met the relative who had left them her house when she died. In fact, up until the day the solicitor contacted them, they hadn’t even known she’d existed. Rob Hennesy, the local realtor handling the keys couldn’t get over how much Louise looked like the deceased owner. That should have rung warning bells for Mary, but she let it slide as Louise finally looked as if she was getting over the two-year old death of her father. Then Mary discovered the reason was an imaginary friend called Nicholas. But was he just a figment of the seven-year olds imagination? By the time Mary discovered Nicholas was a ghost it was far too late – he’d already imbedded himself deep in Louise’s heart as a father figure. But it was when Mary realised she was falling in love with Nicholas herself that the hardest decision of her life had to be made. She could see her own gravestone from the attic window, and knew if she returned to the past to be with the man she loved, there could be no return to the present.
